Purpose of film

We have decided that our film will come under the drama genre, which means that if we were to create the whole film it would do the following things:

• It will exhibit real life situations with realistic characters, settings and narratives.
• Revolve around a tense and dramatic story line that will often make people cry.
• It will emotionally move a person.
• Include character development, showing how they grow as a person from the beginning to the end of the narrative.
• The heart of the drama is the conflict the ultimately ensues.
• It will be structured with climaxes and anti climaxes which will keep the audience emotionally attached and the tension ongoing. 
• End with a form of realisation and narrative resolution. (Happy Ending)

However if we to create the whole movie we could break these typical conventions for artistic purposes and to keep the audience attached and constantly anticipating what is happening next, helping to increase the emotional attachment to the characters. 

Our main purpose within the opening scene is to evoke emotion and establish the main storyline giving the audience an idea of what to expect throughout the movie so that they can decide within the first two minutes if the film is something they wish to continue watching. 

The decision of what drama was done as a pair, everything else was done individually.
