Script 2
When reading through our first script we decided we wanted to make some changes to the scenes due to the fact we were filming at christmas and we wanted to add a christmas scene.
Justice
By Hannah Ginns and Sara Devine
Scene begins with Alisia (Actor 1) putting the kettle on.
(All dialogue is in the form of voiceovers)
Alisia: My Mum always said everything happens for a reason, that your life is simply planned out for you.... (While this is playing, credits appear on screen)
Scene fades slightly - title appears with the name of film.
Phone rings, Alisia moves to answer phone, shot to show that it is 'peter' she answers.
Alisia: (diegetic sound) hello Peter, I'm surprised to hear from you, haven't seen you in a while (person on the line is talking, audience cannot hear what is being said, but from the expressions on actor 1s face it is assumed to be distressing news as suddenly her face drops and she reaches for counter to support herself) yes I understand, thank you for contacting me I appreciate it, give my love to Lisa and the rest of the family, I will come by soon...I'm sorry (Alisia hangs up, unable to talk any longer)
(Scene cuts to a field with two young children [younger versions of the main characters] arriving at an unknown destination [Rockingham Castle] and dropping there bags) [FLASHBACK]
Alisia: Losing someone is never easy, losing your best friend, your best friend since you were two...well that's another story, they leave this huge gaping hole in your heart, one that even though it gets smaller with time it will never be truly filled...always holding that special place in your heart.
(Scene cuts to the same location with two teenagers [the main characters] arriving at the same destination [Rockingham Castle] as the first pair and dropping there bags)
(Alisia walks through passing the living room, she glances in)
Alisia: Everywhere you go, every little thing reminds you of them.. there isn't a single day you don't think of them even if it is a meaningless thought at the back of your mind. [3]
(Alisia takes a seat in the living room and looks under the christmas tree)
(cuts to a scene of the two young children sitting under the christmas tree, shaking presents to see if they can guess what they are, they hear Alisia's mum call for them and they go running)
(Cuts back to Alisia sitting on the sofa)
Alisia: You see whoever said loss gets easier with time is a liar[2]. Here's what really happens; the time between when you miss them grows longer, and then when suddenly something reminds you of them, it's with a stabbing pain to the heart, you have guilt, guilt because it's been too long since you missed them last.
(Scene cuts to the two young children from the first clip chasing each other up steps, getting to the top and both deciding they won, playful pushing, then walk and look out over the wall slowly getting closer to one another. ) [FLASHBACK]
Alisia: Me and Jack we were the best of friends, ever since we were kids we would go to Rockingham Castle, playing in the grounds everyday afterschool as Jack's Dad worked there, all of our memories are from the grounds, they were our own jungle, our personal journey and adventure.
(Scene cuts to the two teenagers from the first clip chasing each other up the same steps, repeating almost the identical movements to the young children) [FLASHBACK]
Alisia: We did everything together, I don't remember us ever falling out, well not seriously you know we have the normal almost sibling fights but we never stop speaking for more than one day. We just couldn't stay away from each other. We were in our own little world, each others protectors from the big bad world, but this time I couldn't save him [6] (long pause for dramatic effect)
(Alisia opens the door and runs out, the scene fades out)
(cuts to a scene of two young children having a picnic and chasing each other around a tree.) [FLASHBACK]
Alisia: Our favourite thing to do was picnics under our favourite tree, I remember we used to think it was magic, our childhood imaginations running away with us.. it was our calm, our serenity, our peace of mind and we loved it.
(Cuts to a scene of the two teenagers having a picnic, eating and laughing with one another) [FLASHBACK]
Alisia: I know you're wondering how did he die, when did he die, (2) you know how I know (2) because for some reason or another we seem to have this morbid fascination with tragedy, with other peoples misfortunes, there own personal reality show. People seem to be more interested in how he died, than the amazing and wonderful life that he lived!
(Alisia arrives at the destination from the clips, Alisia continues to run, stopping at one point and looking around, assumingly for Jack)
(While the next paragraph is being said, Alisia arrives at the 'magic tree' and falls to her knees, close up shots showing her distressed and pained expression - it is clear she is not sure what she should do with herself, ends with her looking up at the sky.)
Alisia: Ivan Turgenev said 'sternly, remorsely, fate guides each of us; only at the beginning when we're absorbed in details, in all sorts of nonsense, in ourselves, we are unaware of it's harsh hand' (4)
(Scene cuts back to the house, and the kettle that was being made in the first scene finally boils and a high pitch whistling can be heard)
Alisia: and he was right, in the beginning I was too absorbed in my grief to see clearly, but not the fog is slowly lifting from my eyes and I know I have to get justice for Jack, his death will not have been in vain.

Edit Decision List
We decided to create our edit decision list creatively by using final cut pro and actual examples of our footage so it was clearer to see what we had done.
This is only for our first part of the footage as we have not completed the footage in the other location.

Hypothetical Funding Possibilites
When talking about where our funding would be coming from if we were to make the film, we decided that we would email - drinkaware, IAM (institute of advanced motorists) and channel 4 to ask them hypothetically if we were to make the film if we would be eligible for them to contribute to the funding of the film. We went on to send them this email:
We will continue to update our blog on any replies that we receive from the companies.
